This may come as a shock or disappointment to some, but I hide or block every single post that is negative or polarizing in nature. This has been increasingly true especially with regard to politics. Right or left, I choose to blind myself from the daily onslaught of opinion that permeates the news and social media. Instead, I choose to feed my soul positive, light, and love. For me, it’s a simple way to remain focused on the highest good for myself and our world.
What you read, you feed. The principle is no different from the food you put in your body. If you feast on junk food, you’ll eventually grow sick. Our minds are actually more important than the food we eat. By nibbling or even feasting on negative, the mind is poisoned. It can get to a point where your own thoughts take on the negative. You begin to see people through the lens of what you read or listen to. In the end, you may grow bitter, angry, and sick of others. Hate and negativity is like junk food for the soul.
Unfortunately, it appears no longer possible to actually read ‘news’ as every outlet is filled with opinion. We seem to have lost our collective ability to simply report what has happened without offering a biased opinion on what it should mean. It’s also nearly impossible to find stories that describes acts of kindness and love. I find it increasingly difficult to find articles that lift others up or describe things in a positive light.
Regardless of your perspective on the topics of today, it’s vitally important we feed ourselves with positive, uplifting nutrients. Years ago, I made it a point to be careful of the tribe I surround myself with. While there are some in my circle who are regularly negative of others, I choose to see the God light in them and know in my heart they are truly wonderful people and I pray for their mental and spiritual health.
The old adage if you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all has been a mainstay in my life. Yet this saying doesn’t go far enough. The challenge is if you have nothing good to say, look within and question your own heart and thoughts. We manufacture our thoughts and they are rooted in ego. If I sense I have nothing good to say, it’s a call for me to examine my role in the situation. It’s almost always rooted in an ego that asserts that I am better than another or that I’m right and they’re wrong. Such thinking is at its root destructive.
There is so much good in our world. As workers of the light, we are called to a higher standard. Trying to snuff out the flame or light in another person by denigrating them in some way doesn’t make your flame any brighter. In fact, when we try to extinguish the light in another soul, the world is that much darker for it. Instead, it’s important to respect and honor the light in others even if you disagree with them in some way.
Our world needs more light right now. We should be lifting others up regardless of how repulsive you may believe them to be. I pray often for others from all walks and perspectives in life. And yes, that means I pray equally for our political leaders from both sides. Every human is divine and has the God seed of life within them. The divine in me honors and respects the divine in you and every living creature. It is when we actively seek to discover the God in others that we find the God within ourselves.
We are in the midst of a major Cosmic shift of energy. With Mars now direct and Venus in retrograde, it’s a time to search within and find the inner feminine that works to soften the ego and calls us into harmony. I choose to be with those I see bringing light into the world versus those running around throwing water on other’s flames. I believe we can all live in harmony even when we disagree. It’s important to see the positive God image in everyone.
It’s important that you feed your soul with nutritious and life-giving food. What you choose to read or listen to is a direct reflection of your self-image and care for the divine within. If you’re feeding yourself garbage on a regular basis, don’t be surprised when you feel down and negative. You are what you eat and you are what you read. I think it would do our world good if we chose a lifestyle change and decided to feed our souls with something healthier and more loving.
