There is a childhood phrase that is rooted in the law of Karma. It goes like this: I’m rubber and you’re glue – whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you. I can vividly remember using this phrase anytime someone picked on me. It was a simple way to deflect the negative and anchor myself. The truth in this phrase unfortunately seems to get lost on most of us as we grow older. When we re-learn this simple truth, we begin to see just how powerful it is. Karma is the foundation on which this simple phrase rests.
The law of Karma demands that our thoughts, words (spoken or written), or actions toward another (good or bad) must be reflected back upon us and will at some point return. You see it is truly like you are rubber and glue. When something is directed toward us, we become a mirror and reflect back the very energy that was sent our way. In a positive sense, when love or healing is sent to us, we return that same energy. On the other hand, when anger, hate, fear, or any other negative emotion is directed to us, the sender receives it back. This is why a practice of grounding and protection is so essential to ensuring that you don’t allow negative to find a place to anchor to – be like rubber.
I was reminded of this recently as a well-known celebrity angrily called down hell-fire on a politician. What this person failed to realize in their anger and hate that the very words they Tweeted so publicly will be returned. You see Karma knows no judgment but demands repayment in kind. So when we speak ill of another, we are asking for that same pain to be inflicted upon us in this life or another. Even our thoughts carry forth in ways we may not realize. Thoughts are energy just as much as words or actions. What we put out into the universe returns.
As we reflect in this season where goodwill to all should be our mantra, the anger and hate we hold within is slowly killing us like an unseen cancer. While the world seems to be so polarized right now. Now more than ever it is critical to choose our words, thoughts, and deeds carefully. If what we seek in our own lives is joy, peace, and health, we must speak that for others regardless of how we may feel about them. This is the very essence of the biblical truth to love your enemies as much or more than those you like or who agree with you.
The power of thoughts and words is the power of the cosmos. The vibrations we send out into the universe will manifest itself first and foremost in our own lives, health, and emotional well-being. If you seek a more positive life, it is only through what you think and speak that the object of your desire becomes reality. What I seek is a world where what I speak brings life not death and destruction.
My challenge to all of you in this new year is to manifest love. Refrain from expressing any words of anger or hate no matter how upset you may be. Instead of posting something in a fit of rage, send forth light and love or at the very least refrain from speaking at all. As most of us learned from an early age, if we have nothing good to say, then say nothing at all. Guard your thoughts carefully. The stakes are much higher than you may think. Even a simple reaction can visit tremendous pain if we’re not coming from a place of love.
I believe in the transformative power of human connection to elevate joy, restore balance, and support inner healing as you seek your highest purpose. My purpose in life is to be a guide, to share the wisdom of the Universe I’ve been gifted with, and to see others succeed. Nothing brings me greater joy than to see others step into their purpose in a vibrant and highly energetic way.
