I’ve recently been focused on the Age of Aquarius and how current world events offer us an opportunity and a challenge to step into this entirely new era of humanity. I want to go a lot deeper and am choosing to write my thoughts rather than video.
The Wuhan virus (and yes, I refer to it based on its origin) increasingly appears to have originated not from a wet market, but from a Chinese government lab. And while all the facts remain to be disclosed, what is increasingly evident is that the Chinese government failed to appropriately address the situation before it became a crisis. To be clear, this is not the fault of the beautiful Chinese people, but instead those who yield absolute power within the Communist Party. How did we get here?
The rise of China on the world stage is in a very large part rooted in Western greed and avarice. Without the unfettered hunger and drive for manufactured goods, the Chinese government would not have been able to achieve its economic status. I believe it is our collective desire for affordable goods that fully enabled the power brokers of China to build their empire. We’ve all seen pictures and read stories of the sweat houses, child labor, and unsafe work conditions of China’s factories. The gap between the wealthy and poor is on full display when you look at China. Our greed and materialism has fueled the bank accounts of numerous Chinese officials all on the backs of workers who are poorly paid and cared for. Yet we seemingly have continued to look the other way while we rush to buy the latest large screen television, next upgraded computers, or the latest technology gadget. We look the other way when we purchase clothing or other goods (much of which we really don’t need) in a mad rush to look good or impress others. To say that we are the cause of the Wuhan virus would be false, but we enabled the rise of a corrupt and greedy system that has exploited our addiction to material goods. The laws of karma know no bounds or limitations.
This is a time to wake up and realize that our choices come with consequences. Our unfettered and selfish buying habits have enabled China to become the financial powerhouse it is today. In our rush to fill our homes and lives with ‘ cheap stuff’, we overlooked the horrible working conditions of those enslaved to support our habits and desires. And yes, habit is an appropriate term. Not only has our materialism fueled the rise of China, communist officials also exploit our other addictions including drugs and items we’ve now become dependent upon them for. It is widely known for example that large volumes of fentanyl are produced in China, eventually finding their way onto our streets where epidemic levels of addition and overdose deaths occur. China’s approach to world domination exploits the very weaknesses of Western democracies, namely personal freedom and greed.
So once again, it’s time to wake up. Not only should we finally see the Chinese government for what it is and acknowledge the devastation they unleashed with the Wuhan virus, but we should also recognize the horrible results of an entire population of people repressed and enslaved. We need to accept that our personal greed has played a role in this process and only then can we begin to realize that materialism itself is a far worse disease than the virus running rampant in our world today. When we as a spiritual community comes together out of love and compassion for others (including the enslaved Chinese workers our greed exploits), we may finally find the start point for the path the Age of Aquarius. This is a path where community matters, every human life is embraced with equality, and we no longer seek to exploit others for our own pleasure, but to lift them up.
It’s now time to rise up as a collective consciousness and accept the call. No longer should we stand idly allowing those with great financial strength to be the power brokers in our world. We should hold any elective official or company leadership fully accountable for putting profit over people. This should start by turning off the financial pipeline that feeds the Chinese leadership and returning to our local communities as well as domestic resources. We should insist that all goods not produced domestically be sourced from nations whose value for human life is not only enshrined in their form of government, but is transparently on display for all to verify. We should insist that elected officials no longer recognize governments that enslave their people and prohibit any form of trade with such governments. We should ensure that every purchase we make comes from producers who care for laborers and provide safe conditions.
We should hold company executives and boards fully accountable for how they manage their organization, and how they manage their people. We should insist that executives no longer outsource work to locations where people are exploited only to increase their profits – profits not readily shared with others outside the company elite. We should insist that critical supplies such as medical, technology, and heavy machinery for example be produced where conditions are safe and workers fairly compensated. While these measures would certainly increase the costs we pay for many everyday items, we could all rest more peacefully at night knowing for example that my new mobile phone wasn’t produced under child slavery or unsafe work conditions. Further, we should empower our communities and support businesses that care equally about that community. If this is the price we must pay to stand up for humanity, then perhaps we will also recognize that materialism is a disease of the human spirit.
Now is the time we rise up as a people who value personal freedom over slavery under any condition. We should insist upon politicians of all parties be held accountable for decisions that enable the enslavement of others by replacing them. For too long have we turned a blind eye to career politicians and others whose personal greed and drive for power gave them permission to exert influence or control over our daily lives. We are the ones who have enabled the system to devolve into a condition where the wealthy hold all the cards. It is only when ‘we the people’ decide we’ve had enough that we will choose to send these politicians back home and replace them with those who seek to serve humanity with the utmost of humility, compassion, and service.
An important aspect to this call to action is that these changes can all be accomplished within the framework of capitalism and democracy. It is all about focusing on balance and equity over greed and power. When we all step forward and do our part, we can change our world. The ‘we’ part of that starts by turning it around and recognizing it all starts with ‘me’. It begins by reflecting upon our individual greed and desires that have contributed in many ways to the rise of corrupt governments, officials, and industry leaders. If we each hadn’t been so focused on ourselves, we may have noticed sooner that others were trying to exploit and subvert the system.
We are at a precarious crossroads in the evolution of humanity. A return to the greed-driven days of before will only further fuel and emblazon those who believe they hold all the cards. A world that continues to enable the manipulation and exploitation of others will ultimately result in the destruction of all. This is not what the Age of Aquarius offers. Instead, now is the time to return to our hearts, recognize and respect the dignity of others, and rise up to the challenge.
I am setting forth a challenge for myself and for each of you. Are you willing to think twice before making a purchase and become a more informed consumer? Are you willing to become active in your local community by supporting those who are serving you over large commercial, multi-national conglomerates? Are you willing to accept that your own greed and materialism has indirectly harmed the lives of innocent people, most of whom you’ll never know? Are you willing to insist that officials demonstrate value and respect for all of humanity and ensure their decisions reflect that? Are you willing to step back from selfish behaviors that inadvertently continue to feed the power and profits of those who have demonstrated they don’t respect others?
Finally. Are you willing to rise up now and embrace the love and light that the Age of Aquarius offers and promises? It is time for people of the light to stand up and be counted.
Let’s not waste this opportunity. While most of us remain within our homes, it’s an ideal opportunity to reflect deeply upon our role and value in this world. Will you join me?
