I’m so glad the eclipse energy is dissipating. The last 30+ days has been an intense and deep period of self-examination. I know from speaking with many friends that they also experienced this deep self-work and quite frankly, I think many of us were feeling exhausted.
Part of that work for me was reflecting upon what it means to be living my dreams. To live my dreams isn’t an exercise in fantasy. For me, it is a personal commitment to self-love and being content with who I am in the present moment. When I choose a path that is focused on what others think or say, I find myself absorbing their fears, anger, and hate. Living your dreams or living your fears – the choice is ours.
When we rely upon others to love or accept us, we have surrendered our dreams to their whims, moods, and opinions. We no longer have the power. We become fixated on finding self-worth through what we hear and receive from those around us. When we aren’t living our dreams we are by default living our fears. Self-doubt creeps in and we can find ourselves easily triggered by others.
We have enough hate, anger, and negative in our society today. In fact, there’s enough dark energy in our world that it’s sometimes difficult to see the light. When we allow that anger to trigger us, we have surrendered our personal power to that person or thing. You may feel self-righteous in your anger, but the reality is, they now control you. The more negative they spew the tighter their grip on your heart. You have lost control.
The first of the Four Agreements (The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz) is to be impeccable with your word. Being true to yourself is at the root of this agreement, and that truth starts with self-love. When anger drives us or we feel hate or despise others, we are not being true to our authentic self as the source of love. We may as well hand that person the chains around our neck. When you are rooted in self-love, you protect your dreams and hopes with an invisible field of light. This is how our Creator designed us. Our highest purpose is to be in integrity to the power of love.
No matter what side of an issue you may be on, when love isn’t the source from which you speak and act, you are no better than the ones you profess to oppose or disagree with. And the self-righteous version of love isn’t what I’m referring to. When the God in me sees the God in you, there is a level of respect and dignity that acknowledges no matter what someone has said or done, the seed of the Creator lives in them in the same way it lives in me.
The choice is ours. We can live our dreams rooted in self-love and radiating nothing but the spirit of love that calls forward the God in others – this is our highest calling. Or we live in our fears having surrendered our power to the whims of others where we denigrate them, reject them, and see them as somehow less than we are. The path of our fears is indeed hell on earth. To give in to these forces is to admit that we don’t love ourselves enough, that we are not impeccable to our word, that we are unwilling to see the God within ourselves and others, and that we would rather wallow in the sewer than bask in the light of God.
The truly beautiful yet often paradoxical reality of our Creator is the gift of free will. So will we live our dreams or fears? We each have this choice.

Thank you Duane, this is perfect for right now. Well, really always. I find that my fear keeps me from living my dreams, or my “I’m not good enoughs” get in the way, so thank you for this reminder…
Also like what you shared about “we live in our fears having surrendered our power to the whims of others where we denigrate them,” so true. We need to not let what anyone’s fears are affect us… and continue to live a grounded, rooted “self loving” life remembering our true value… Thanks for this!
