In may last post, I reflected on the destructive consequences of the Darwinian perspective of life. The premise of my reflection was that the spirit of competition sets us up to be destructive – to win at all costs. What I want to shift to today is the essence of our humanity and our higher purpose. When we come to realize and embrace that we are all one, we begin to realize that to inflict harm on another is to harm ourselves.
At the very core of being human is the recognition that we are all formed from the same stardust – we are all bonded together as sentient beings on a journey to our highest purpose. That purpose at its root is love. Love is the essence of the cosmos. In order to ascend in our journeys, we must be living expressions of love. Our purpose is not only to raise our own vibration through love, but to be a positive transformative energy for others. It is in human connection that we find our path to the higher self.
From early in my life, I have held the belief in the transformative power of human connection. As I’ve grown, I have come to see this power as not just one human to another, but in our own connection with all of creation. When we damage our great Mother Gaia, we hurt ourselves. When we harm another living being particularly for selfish purposes, we inflict pain on ourselves. Reflect upon that and let it sink in. What we do in anger, hate, or selfishness causes pain. It is the Karmic law of the cosmos.
For me, this transcends the way I treat others. When someone mistreats an animal for example, they inflict harm on themselves. When we destroy the environment out of selfish desire it’s as if we took a knife to our own skin. It isn’t in the taking though that pain results, it is in our motivation. To harvest food for the purposes of sustaining ourselves is not inherently bad. The ritual of giving thanks and blessing each time we eat is to honor the life that was taken and celebrate its gift. On the other hand, to simply cut down a tree for example because it blocks your view, can be a potentially harmful act. It’s all in the motivation.
It may sound counter-cultural to some to believe we are all one and that we share our existence with animals, rocks, water, air, and all of creation. The cosmos though is rooted in harmony, balance, and reverence. We are all one and the most critical aspect of this reality is in how we treat our fellow human travelers. This is where it all begins. If you can’t send love and light to other humans, you are far less likely (and capable) of doing so for the rest of creation.
I believe in the transformative power of human connection to elevate joy, restore balance, and support inner healing as you seek your highest purpose. My purpose in life is to be a guide, to share the wisdom of the Universe I’ve been gifted with, and to see others succeed. Nothing brings me greater joy than to see others step into their purpose in a vibrant and highly energetic way.
