With all the chaos we see in the news of late, it’s beginning to feel like many have lost touch with what truly matters. For those of us who are strong empaths, the energy drain can sometimes be overwhelming. Yet at the end of the day, remaining grounded in your own truth and being at peace within seems to me to be what should matter most.
Without delving into the political morass, it seems as if so many have taken to majoring in the minors. In the broader scheme of things, the bickering, complaining, and in some cases crass rancor of others who feel like their opinion needs to be broadcast (as if even that really matters), has done nothing but create an environment of division. As my father used to remind me: opinions are like assholes – we all have one and most people don’t care to see yours. And my mother always reminded me that if I had nothing positive or good to say, it was usually better to say nothing at all.
I think we can all use a dose of civility at this point. There are plenty of perspectives but fewer people are willing to engage in constructive discourse. While it’s easier to call people names or use some derogatory descriptions, it’s much more mature to step into a discussion with openness and to give others the benefit of the doubt. Besides, at the end of the day, do the words of some politician, professional player, or business leader really affect your life – in other words does it really matter?
As I’ve reflected on this, I have found much greater inner peace by letting it all go. My spiritual growth and tranquility matter most and none of the noise in our world serves me. It doesn’t affect me one way or another if someone stands or kneels for the National anthem. It doesn’t matter to me if some believe that one political view is right and another wrong. When I see or read others so worked up over what someone said or did, I feel empathy and sorrow. To waste so much emotional and spiritual capital on something that in the end has no bearing on my spiritual journey seems to me to be useless.
What bothers me the most is that in these moments, we lose the opportunity to find true, authentic, and empowering human connection. When our perspectives are so rigid and our words so divisive, we create separation. What matters most then is not what someone hundreds or thousands of miles away whom we don’t personally know is doing, but what I am doing to bring peace into my own life and those I touch. That is the higher path and that is what we are called to.
So next time you find yourself all worked up over something, ask yourself this simple question: what matters most? If peace and love is what you truly seek, perhaps it’s time to be quiet for in the solitude within, the Divine comes forward. If we want more peace in our world, perhaps it’s time we shut up and just listen.
I believe in the transformative power of human connection to elevate joy, restore balance, and support inner healing as you seek your highest purpose. My purpose in life is to be a guide, to share the wisdom of the Universe I’ve been gifted with, and to see others succeed. Nothing brings me greater joy than to see others step into their purpose in a vibrant and highly energetic way.
